I will write quickly because I don't have much time! I am leaving for Paris in the morning, and Joy and I are catching the train in about 5 hours. Of course I still have to paint my nails and watch a tv show with Joy....so I wont be getting much sleep. :)
OMG! Time has been flying by. I have explored Amsterdam, seen some amazing windmills, eaten a Dutch pancake, ridden on the Autobahn (scary with Joy as the driver), drank lots of coffee, gone grocery shopping in Germany (so fun!), toured an amazing Palace, visited an ancient Castle, roller bladed through the streets of Duesseldorf with thousands of locals, ran 10 miles into the countryside of Germany, and spend quality time with my sister. So much more! I have taken over 700 photos. (Some are repeats...playing with exposure, etc.)
One week has nearly passed and I will head into a different country tomorrow. I am so looking forward to Paris, but also quite nervous about these scary French people I hear about. :)
Oh and I love Germany. Duesseldorf will be hard to beat. (Surprising...yes?)
Photos will come later, but to glance quickly at some photos you can check out my instagram feed on the sidebar. I try to instagram when I get back to Joy's place at night and I have wifi. Who knows if this will continue in France and Italy, but I hope so!
Good Night!

Amazing Weekend in San Juan
We just got back from our quick weekend trip to the San Juan Islands. We had a blast! I ended by running a marathon, but more on that later. First, I have pretty pictures to share!
We started our Saturday at the Friday Harbour Farmer's Market.
Next, We discovered our awesome campsite, which was at San Juan park, just across the island from Friday Harbour.
We met the camp cat, who reminded us a lot of Flash!
The view from the campground was just breathtaking. You could see all the way to Canada! In fact, my phone kept internationally roaming, which was quite the annoyance.
We did a lot of driving throughout the island during the day on Saturday. Part of that was to drive my race course. We ended up eating lunch at Roche Harbour.
I tried to take some pictures in the flower garden, I am loving having my camera back!!
On our way back to the campsite we visited the British camp and the Alpaca farm. We got quite a bit of exercise hiking and walking around.
Back at the campsite, we enjoyed reading, caterpillars, roasting naan bread on the fire, a beautiful sunset, and even some fireworks late at night coming from Victoria. It was truly a wonderful evening.
Sunday I ran a marathon!! I want to write a more detailed marathon post, but right now I will just show a few photos.
I had a blast this weekend, but I am sure happy to be home and showered. I plan to put my legs up and be super lazy today!

A few Oregon Coast photos
Finally after nearly a month, I have a working computer again! The power cord just came in the mail, and the first thing I did was upload my photos from my camera. All 955 photos from the month of August!
Here are just a few photos from the Oregon coast:
(No that is not a beer bottle, but it is a REAL soda, vintage ginger ale to be exact)
Here is the view from Ecola State Park:
And another photo at Ecola. We hiked along the ridge above the beach:
Cows and ice cream at Tillamook! I also got some amazing cheese curds...you can only get these at the factory!
We stopped at a fun little look out on our way to Newport. They had a gift shop which has been around since the 1930s and an amazing view of the ocean from 500 feet above:
We really loved the lighthouse at Yaquina! We also saw some grey whales in the ocean just beyond the lighthouse.

Our anniversary dinner was at Rogue Brewery. We took the tour a couple of years ago, and this year we just enjoyed an awesome dinner and some beer samples. These onion rings blew us away!

The second full day of our trip was spent entirely in Cannon Beach, most of it AT the beach. We went to the beach exactly six times in one day, and although it was lovely, we had enough!

Pizza eating is our lunch tradition:
Finally, some photos of the beach at sunset! This was my favorite of all the time we went to the beach!

I should be back soon with more photos and stories. I certainly have a lot to tell. Have a great weekend everyone!

Pictures from Chelanman
Matt and I just got home from an awesome weekend! He said he had more fun this weekend than he's had all summer. He really does love those triathlons! Hanging out with awesome friends/cousins is not bad either!
We arrived Friday night to register and attend the triathlon meeting. The bikes were all lined up the night before in their transition zone. Kinda nice, since the race started at 7am.

Saturday we watched Julie start her half iron. She was amazing!
At 8:30 I started my half marathon. The course took us along the lake...so beautiful and hardly hilly at all. It was one of the best runs I've been on, and definitely the best race ever! I got 1:54:11 which is a PR for me.
After I finished racing, we spend most of the early afternoon waiting for Julie to complete her bike and run. We had an awesome view of the race, we could see both bikers coming in, and runners going out.
After the race we went back to the ball park where we were camping. The sun came out! It rained off and on all of Saturday. The rain was actually quite welcome, as it is hard to run in the heat! We wore our awesome neon shirts. :)
The next day, Sunday, was all about Matt! His race was a sprint triathlon and only took 1:29. It was quite the work out, just running and taking photos of all the events. Here he is coming out of the water:
He was very organized in transition, preparing for the bike and the run. I was so proud that he put everything in a nice straight line:
And here he is at the finish! Now that he has finished his sprint triathlon, he is excited to compete in Coeur d Alene on August 13th....in the Olympic distance. Go Matt!
After the race we watched the Splash & Dash, the kids triathlon. What an event! Probably the highlight event of the weekend. :) Matt and I took the kids home to Seattle to stay with their grandparents. That was fun! We even stopped for DQ ice cream. :)
And now back to being healthy again!

July 3rd
I am thoroughly enjoying my nearly 4th of July! I love this holiday and recently have been reminiscing all the years past. This year has to be one of my favorites, and its not even here yet! Matt and I are in Spokane enjoying the awesome heat of summer. So far I have appreciated...
Eating outside......roasting a marshmallow in the backyard.....mowing Renae's lawn with a reel mower.....walking the downtown river loop with Matt....eating a delicious chocolate ice cream cone.....running 11.5 miles on an amazing trail near the river.....seeing my Aunt & Uncle who live in Europe.....seeing my Grandpa......biking across town to my friend Bethany's house and spending the day with her super fun girls.....eating Joe's fabulous bi bim bob.....getting to see Renae.
The weekend is not over! I am just appreciating some down time right now and LOVING THIS WEEKEND!
Here are a few photos from the past:
I made a collage in 2010. It was a rough weekend and I really needed a little sunshine. Unfortunately in Seattle, nice weather seems to arrive around the 6th of July! So I used my camera to capture random red, white & blue things, which made me happy. Then I made a collage! I hope to make another one this year.
In 2009 Renae, Joe, Matt and I all visited San Juan island on July 3rd and drove Mopeds around the entire island. That was one of the most fun things we have ever done together!
On July 4th, we watched the fireworks at a little park in Eastlake. It was the perfect year!
In 2008 we went camping at Mount Rainier. Unfortunately, that trip was epic in a not very good way! We still reminisce being rained out and leaving a day early. We only saw the mountain for a few minutes! This picture is me and Ellen posing in front of the mountain (which is of course not visible!)

So there you have it! The last four years in pictures, some years better than others. I am so glad I am in 2011 and having a great time.
Happy Birthday America!

Highlights from my weekend
Here are a few pictures highlighting my fun weekend in Winthrop!
The view from my tent on Saturday morning! Apparently there is a place nearby the campground that you can go on hot air balloon rides. Some day....

We stayed at the Winthrop KOA! We are not normally KOA campers. We usually say we like to rough it. But we signed up for a spot last minute and just wanted to make sure that there would be a space for us. And why rough it when you can set up your tent on a manicured lawn? And when you can buy a towel, hand sanitizer and s'more ingredients at a store on the property? And especially why would you rather rough it when you can have an amazing clean bathroom! Seriously, the bathrooms at this place are nicer than my own.
Here are all of us mountain bikers! I had already changed into normal clothes because my race was finished an hour earlier than these guys. Overall I was pretty happy with my race. I fell a little behind on the downhill section because I am just not quite brave enough to just let loose and bomb down the mountain!
After the race everyone else went home and Matty and I spent a couple of hours in Winthrop. We visited a cute little museum that is just up the hill from the main street. There were lots of log cabins and room after room of antiques. I just love this kind of museum! I had to snap a photo of this old fashioned tooth extractor...

Apparently the dentist in the Methow Valley was a traveling physician that would visit each town in the area for about three weeks at a time. He would do nothing but pull teeth! Makes me cringe!
We made and ate a lot of s'mores! The best kind are made with either dark chocolate or Reese's cups! I always like to heat the graham cracker and chocolate near the fire so that it gets nice and melty. Yum!
One of the best parts of our weekend was waking up Sunday morning and mountain biking for 3 hours before checking out of our campsite. We had a blast! There are so many trails in the Methow Valley. The ride really wore us out!
There are many more photos (of course) but this post is getting long. Its just great to document a few awesome memories!

Home again...
Back to normal life!
On Tuesday I had a bit of withdrawals from my care-free summer weekend. We expected rain, but we got SUNSHINE. And WARM WEATHER. And I was silly and a bit crazy and not at all responsible. That felt GREAT.
We have a bit of car trouble staring us in the face right now, as well as a whole lotta rain and gloom in the sky. So its honestly hard being back to normal life and I am trying to make the best of it! I have been scrapbooking and making burned pop corn and organizing and enjoying the little things in life, such as coffee. I have a little Dove chocolate wrapper in my car that says "Chocolate never lets you down." As I read that wrapper each day I realize I feel the same way about coffee. Chocolate and coffee never let me down!
Anyway...
Here are some photos from the weekend that make me happy. Our campsite seemed small at first, but it ended up being pretty cool.

Can't believe another memorial day weekend is come and gone!
